Find the Australia visitor visa stream that fits your trip
Philippine passport holders generally apply for the Visitor visa (subclass 600). It has several streams, and your purpose of travel decides which one applies.
Tourist
Holidays, sightseeing, weddings, graduations and visits to family or friends.
Sponsored Family
For visits where an eligible family member in Australia formally sponsors you.
Business Visitor
Short business activities such as meetings and conferences, without taking up work.
Frequent Traveller
A longer-validity option for eligible passport holders who travel often. Ask us if you may qualify.
A visitor visa is not a work visa
Visitor visas do not allow regular employment in Australia, and study is limited. If you plan to work or study, we can talk through other options.
A well-prepared application is easier to assess
Case officers decide on the evidence you provide. We help you present a clear, consistent picture of your trip.
The right stream
Choose between Tourist, Sponsored Family and Business Visitor based on who is inviting you and why you are going.
A clear evidence checklist
Know what to gather for funds, employment, family ties, travel plans and any host in Australia.
A consistent story
Make sure your purpose, dates and documents line up, so nothing raises unnecessary questions.
Smart timing
Plan your application around your travel dates and avoid paying for bookings before you have a decision.
Show that you are a genuine visitor
Applicants generally need to show that they intend to visit temporarily and will comply with the visa conditions. Your documents should support that story.
A clear purpose and itinerary
Explain why you are going, where you will stay and how long you plan to visit.
Ties to the Philippines
Show the work, business, studies, family or property that give you strong reasons to return.
Funds and travel history
Show that you can cover your trip, and include past travel that shows you followed visa conditions.
What you will typically prepare
Your exact list depends on your stream and personal circumstances. Here is what many applications include.
Requirements vary by applicant
Government rules and fees are updated regularly. We confirm current requirements with you before you apply.
- Passport with a clear copy of the photo page
- Proof of funds, such as bank statements, payslips and tax records
- Evidence of ties: employment, business, studies, family or property
- Trip details: itinerary, accommodation and event information
- Host documents if visiting family, including their status in Australia
- Biometrics, health checks or police certificates if requested

Common reasons visitor visa applications struggle
Most of these can be fixed before you lodge.
Weak ties to the Philippines
If an officer doubts you will return, the application is harder to approve. Show your work, family and other commitments.
Funds that are unclear or unexplained
Sudden large deposits or missing statements raise questions. Keep your financial records consistent.
Inconsistent or incomplete information
Mismatched dates or missing documents can delay or derail an application.
Booking before you have a decision
Non-refundable flights and hotels put you at risk if the visa is delayed or refused.

Questions about the Australia visitor visa
Do Filipino passport holders need a visa to visit Australia?
Generally yes. Philippine passport holders usually apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600), because the ETA and eVisitor options are not available for Philippine passports. We confirm the current rules and the right stream for you.
Which visitor visa stream should I choose?
Most holidaymakers and people visiting friends or family use the Tourist stream. The Sponsored Family stream involves a family member in Australia formally sponsoring your visit, and the Business Visitor stream covers short business activities. We help you choose the stream that fits your purpose.
How long can I stay in Australia on a visitor visa?
Visitor visas are commonly granted for 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on your purpose and circumstances. Your visa grant letter shows the exact period of stay and any conditions.
How much money do I need to show for an Australian visitor visa?
There is no single amount that fits every trip. You need to show that you can support yourself for the whole stay, for example with bank statements, payslips and tax records. A sponsor may help with costs, but you still need to show your own financial standing and ties to the Philippines.
Can I work or study in Australia on a visitor visa?
A visitor visa does not allow regular work in Australia, and study is limited. The conditions are shown on your visa grant. If you plan to work or study, talk to us about other visa options.
Do I need an invitation letter to visit family in Australia?
It is not always required, but evidence from your host, such as their status in Australia, address and support details, can strengthen a family visit application. A Sponsored Family application needs formal sponsorship. Ask us which option fits your case.
What if my Australian visa was refused before?
A refusal does not always mean you cannot try again. Share your refusal letter during your assessment and we will review the reasons and discuss whether to reapply with stronger evidence or consider another option.
Is the initial assessment really free?
Yes. AOICI currently offers a free, commitment-free initial assessment so you can understand your options before deciding on next steps.
